Steel Fire exit door installation and replacement

We can replace your existing wooden doors with purpose made steel doors and frame. For commercial applications you should have your doors inspected by your local safety or fire officer who will offer you a schedule on any rectification required.There are many regulations for fire doors, we can offer advice but a fire safety officer should be consulted or building control officer for your local authority to advise on your requirements if you are not sure, we can then follow their specification for approval.

You must make sure fire exit doors are not obstructed, they must be easy to open, and self close firmly when shut. Where intumescent strips are fitted or required they must be fitted correctly. Any Glass fitted must meet current regulations. Any panic exit equipment fitted to the door must be working correctly.

Door closers are helpful for security, in particular communal doors in multi-occupancy buildings, they also assist in keeping fire exit doors closed firmly, if yours is not working or you suspect a fault have it checked as soon as possible.Closers need to be fire rated for fire doors, do not fit anything less.

Whatever make of closer you have, it can normally be interchanged with another manufacturers, so if you have a Ryobi you can use a Briton, or if you have a Dormer you can fit a Union, so long as the closer is fit for the application, the size and weight of the door and the direction it swings is important to how it is located on the door.

Helpful Hints 

• You may find that single chain closers get quite noisy, this is normal in most cheaper models, try upgrading to a better one.
• Most hydraulic door closers have up to 3 or 4 adjustments available, yours may only need adjusting and not replacing.
